When looking to find buyers and sellers, I have always been fond of this tool Perhaps you'll find it similarly useful. Just type in the item you're looking for and it'll give you recent data of all sellers in Kamadan (One of the main trade hubs of GW)

Argos programs are best not to be advertised (policies and such).
To buy stuff, apart from teh obvious Kamadan I usually use both trading forums on here and guru auctions. But I've never bought minis so... |

in regards to minis...there is also this handy sticky on these forum boards that gives you a good idea of the price range you can expect to pay for them

Wow. After playing this a fair bit over the weekend I've only just managed one point through M.O.X. Go me!
I'm currently playing through the Eye of the North content and trying to fill up some story books as I go. I'm sure I read I'll need them for some reputation somewhere I've only amassed around 7,000g so far while not spending anything. I'm still in my bloody starter gear (is this normal? ), so buying pets is a no-go so far. The Honor Tapestry seems as though it's going to take forever and a day. The Vaquisher / Skill Hunter titles especially. Any tips towards any of it would be great. I've read through as much as I can, but being a beginner, a lot of it goes straight over my head For example, how is it I upgrade my Hero's armor? Is there a guide on how to do this for each Hero at all? I have around 6 heroes so far. So this may be something to work on as soon as I've hit 20 and finished the campaigns. Having said all this, I'm now a Level 17 Ritualist and I'm having fun! ^_^ |

Just finish the campaigns before doing anything, if you're new. Get use to layout of the areas and then move onto bigger things. If you find a friend or a good guild they can probably help you if you ever get stuck or lost.
The hero armour upgrading is at the end of EotN and generally late in Nightfall. |

http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Categ..._upgrade_items Also, upgrade your armor asap, starter armor is no good in EoTN. Oh, and now you've got the heroes, go back to Cantha and finish that before you try to finish EoTN, especially if you haven't bought the skill unlock pack. EoTN is endgame content (I swear, they should have a 500 foot high flaming sign in the first 5 EoTN zones...) Last edited by enter_the_zone; Mar 05, 2012 at 01:13 PM // 13:13.. |

Haha, yeah, it has been getting a bit tough as of late. Noob + starter armor + end game content = lots of deaths.
I'll head over to Cantha and finish that storyline. Last time I got battered by a bunch of chumps outside KC. Thanks for the link to the hero armor quests too. Seems like I'll be running Glint's Challenge a fair few times! Is the best way to upgrade my armor through the collectors? Not really seen anyone else with gear. Without spending money I don't have anyway |

As enter the zone mentioned above, you *definitely* want to upgrade your rit's armor to max asap. As a rit, your options are a bit more limited than core professions, but there are armor crafters in Kaineng Center (Factions) or Boreal Station (EotN) who you can get max 60 AL armor from. It costs 1k and some common + rare materials for each piece, so you might need to spend the gold you've accumulated so far. Sorry, but it'll be worth the expense in terms of survivability for your toon!
Also, when you go back to Factions, make sure you have all your attribute points. You should have a total of 200 once you reach level 20. There are two side quests on Shing Jea Island that give you your last 30 points. EDIT: Collector armor is fine if you don't have the gold and/or mat to get the max crafted, but keep in mind that some will not take upgrades such as runes or insignias, which you may want to add later as they become available. EDIT #2: Can't recall if anyone mentioned keeping an ID kit, basic salvage kit and an expert salvage kit on you at all times? blue/purple/gold drops from foes can have hidden runes/insig/mods that you can use on yourself or your heroes -- use the expert to salvage the mod off. The basic salv kit can be used to get common crafting materials off drops. Even white drops starting from the mainland on should be ID'ed since it increases their merchant value (sometimes alot, sometimes just a bit, but it adds up). Ouch! That's going to cost me a pretty penny! Thanks for the tips also. I would've completely missed the extra 30 attribute points otherwise.
I'll be sure to grab an expert salvage kit too. I had an ID Kit and Salvage Kit, but no expert for rares. Thanks Looks like I'll be farming for money more than my titles |

Oops...just remembered something else!
In regards to raising a bit of money for your armor/HoM...hit the M button in-game and look for the ship icon on the map that pops up. Click on that and see if there is the option to travel to the Great Temple of Balthazar (a core area). Every account gets 50 free Tournament Reward Points just for existing :P Go to High Priest Zhang. He'll give you the 50 TRP (hit H for you Hero window, check under the third tab in that window). Then go speak to Tolkano (also in GToB). Select the option to buy Zaishen Keys with Tournament Reward Points. You can get a total of 10 z-keys with the 50 free points. You might have to register your account with Tolkano first (can't recall). Then turn around and sell the keys to other players for 5-6k each. Click the Search button in your party window...in the window that pops up, look under the first tab, I think it's labeled "Players". There will be sections for players looking to form groups/missions and, the one you want, Trade. You should now have money for your armor and some other small things . |

Yeah, that Tournament Reward Points thing should also be in 500 foot high flaming letters somewhere too. Maybe in the background of the login screen. I mean, if you don't know about it, the chances of finding it by accident are minuscule.
Also, since you're in EoTN, a commonly missed but really useful hero is xandra (ritualist) who can be obtained in Gunnars Hold by beating her in the Norn Fighting tournament. Another is Olias, who is easy as pie to get. Also, if you're getting stomped in Cantha, it's probably because your hero builds either aren't much good since you have so few skills available, or you don't have enough prot/healing. The Afflicted using Death Nova is a pain in the arse. I suggest using some henchmen instead of heroes, particularly monk prot hench and the rit hench (check on wiki that you're using different spirits) until you cap/buy some decent Elites/skills. Looking over these threads recently, I'm coming to the conclusion that Guild Wars has really poor in game guidance and little to no advice on how people should progress to actually be able to beat the game. Even the community gets it wrong a lot of the time with the whole "go to EoTN and get heroes" advice. Heroes are better than henchman, but only if you've got most of the skills unlocked. Otherwise, they're basically useless. Last edited by enter_the_zone; Mar 05, 2012 at 04:40 PM // 16:40.. |

Yeah, I was getting hammered in Cantha at the time because I didn't realise I could have 8 in my party and not 3. Even though it obviously says 3/8
Then I unlocked loads of heroes and noticed I was getting smashed. So now I only use Vekk and Ogden with two Warriors, two Monks and an Elemental which worked out much better. I'm sure I'll be fine in Cantha now |

heh...bit more advice/some additional random thoughts:
While you were on Shing Jea (starter island) you may or may not have noticed random NPC's with side quests for you. If you have time to do them, they will reward Monastary Credits. These can be turned in to the Monastary Quartermasters (located right IN Shing Jea Monastary) for basic salvage and ID kits (both the regular 25 use and the 25 use Expert kits). This helps save a wee bit of gold on kits you *don't* have to buy from the merchant. There are similar starter area side quests in Nightfall for native if you should ever create a NF toon. Additionally you can use some of the Monastary Credits to get yourself two bags (and two Runes of Holding). The runes should be applied to the bags (one each) to give you two 10-slot bags for additional storage space on your character. One of those side quests also rewards a belt pouch...which is another 5 slots of general storage space ON your character. Similarly, side quests from Kaineng Center will reward Imperial Commendations that can be used on basic salv/ID kits...and the more valuable *superior* salv/ID kits. These kits are 100 uses each and are generally more valuable because they save you space on long runs...one of each 100 use kit instead of multiples of the 25 use kits. The Superior salv kit is also similar to the Expert in that it can be used to take runes/insignias/mods off colored drops and sometimes extract rare materials from drops (i.e. you would get a steel ingot instead of x number of iron ingots from a blue/purp/gold sword). The Imp Commendations can be sold to other players...but honestly I find they're more valuable to keep. You mentioned that you were having more success moving through Factions with 2 W, 2 Monks, an ele...AND Vekk plus Ogden. Generally you don't necessarily need two upfronts....or three monks. At some point/mission you may want to replace one of the warriors or the extra monk/ele with a rit and/or a mesmer. There will be mesmer/elementalist foes with skills that you will *definitely* want to interrupt and the mesmer will do just that....saving your party a possible huge AoE spike. There are similarly areas where you may want to have a minion master along....there will be dead bodies for them to turn into mindless allies/meat shields ....o dear...half a wall 'o text.... >.< |

Thanks for all the tips again Meow Ren
After doing some reading of the Wiki. I think it's fair to say I definitely won't be hitting 30/50 HoM rewards You can see that they've tailored it to both new comers and vets of the game (and rightly so, why should I come wading in and have all the rewards someone who has played GW for 2+ years have?). My plan of action now seems to be: Devotion (3/8): 1x Common Miniature 1x Rare Miniature 1x Unique Miniature All these will have to be bought. So hopefully I can get some cheap! Fellowship (5/8): Vekk Ogden Stonehealer Gwen Black Moa The Black Moa seems simple enough to just tame and hand in. I'll have to run Glint's Challenge for the remainder, which I'm sure I'll get to grips with. Or are the Hero's from Nightfall easier to upgrade? Also, does a Hero need to be level 20 to be added to the HoM? (on top of having their armor upgraded of course) Honor (8/18): Accounts linked Eternal Protector of Elona Eternal Protector of Cantha Eternal Protector of Tyria Eternal Canthan Skill Hunter Eternal Tyrian Skill Hunter The Skill Hunters seem to be the easiest title tracks to go for. Should I be looking at something else? Resilience (1/8): x1 Ancient Armor OR x1 Asuran Armor I have no clue about this one. But Ancient Armor is apparently one of the easier ones to go for. Although I may be able to hand in my Hero's Handbook against the Asura to craft their set after reaching 26,000 rep. Not sure how easy it is to get the rare materials for it though (Ink Vial's for the Asuran I think?). Valor (2/8): x1 Destroyer Weapon No chance of getting a Tormented or Oppressor Weapon by the looks of it unless I come in to a boat load of money. So that leaves me on 19/50, which is a shame as I was after the White Raven. Damn you GW! |

Really?
You think Luxon armor is as expensive as Vabbi armor? Half the rubies of the Vabbi alone is the price of the Luxon armor. |

Finishing Factions will bring you to the Divine Path, where the (low level) Imperial Phoenix is found wandering around waiting to be charmed. Bring Charm Animal on your character (or make one of your heroes /R secondary, add Charm to their skillbar and manually have them use it on the Imp Phoenix). Then take the birdee with you when you run around finishing other quests/missions/campaigns. It won't gain xp from quest/mission rewards...but it will gain xp from mobs as you go. One warning...if it dies, all your/the hero's skills will be unusable for about 5-10 seconds. Depending on what you're doing at the time, let it die and continue on..the dead pet continues to gain xp while dead Once it's 20, it has it's own space in the HoM. Finally...create a PvP ranger. PvP toons are automatically level 20 and the rangers come with a level 20 wolf. Take the wolf to the Zaishen Menagerie and turn it in to Emyrd the Tamer (I think?). Then swap to your rit (with /R as their secondary and with Charm Animal on their skillbar). Speak to Helena and ask her to spawn 4 level 20 wolves for you. Charm one. Register it in your HoM under the generic Animal Companion statue. This *should* give you the missing point to make 20/50 Last edited by Meow Ren; Mar 06, 2012 at 02:41 PM // 14:41.. |
